An Act of Goodness!

A month or two back, I witnessed an act of goodness. Yes, don’t be surprised, Chivalry is still present in this world.

I was out with a friend of mine for shopping. I called my driver, ‘Mukesh Ji’ to pick us back and drop her to her place and to head home. We reached her house’s lane and dropped her off there itself. I was in a hurry to reach home, so I asked my driver to turn the car back and drive home.

He said, ‘let her go in first’, pointing towards my friend. I was speechless and I just nodded and looked at her. she was walking carefree, her eyes stuck to her phone. I felt guilty and proud both at the same time. Guilty, because that thought did not come in my mind. Proud, because I am associated with that person.

Act Of Goodness

So, we waited for 7 whole minutes, while she was strolling towards her house, tapping into her phone. Any normal person would have taken just 2 minutes to reach her house.

So, on the way back, while he was driving, I was wondering about his act of goodness because he had no responsibilities for her, had it been me, his act would have been a responsibility.

And then I decided to write about this. Before I got out of the car and my belief was strengthened when I saw him standing outside the door, until I entered my house. 🙂
