YCSAC 2015: Are you up for a Cyber Security Awareness Challenge?

“I have a different password for every online account”, does this sound like you? Then you can be the next Yakṣas Cyber Security Awareness Champion.

– Yakṣas CSC, in association with NCSAM and STOP.THINK.CONNECT., have launched an online competition, called Yakṣas Cyber Security Awareness Champion (YCSAC) 2015. This is an initiative to create a cyber-safe environment in schools by motivating students to educate themselves on various cyber-related risks such as cybercrime, cyber bullying etc.

YCSAC 2015 is short video competition in which participating students will have to create a 60-90 second video on any one of the four themes as listed below:
·        Social Media and Cyber Bullying
·        Two Steps Ahead
·        Safeguarding Online Privacy
·        Fight against Cybercrime

It is exclusively for students who are in K-12 schools.  Students of class 4th and above are eligible to participate. Registration is free of cost and can be done here. All submitted videos will be scored on Awareness Index and Innovation Index to decide upon the winning video in each category.

Each winning video will receive a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, a Certificate of Honor, YCSAC 2015 Trophy and merchandize from Green Mango Guy. Additionally, winning videos and participants will be featured on Yakṣas website.

What is Yakṣas CSC?

Yakṣas Cyber Security Champions (CSC), is an organization of Cyber Security Professionals (CSPs), dedicated to protect people and their assets in the Cyber World. It is our vision to create and contribute in an ecosystem where any advancement in the fields of Computer Science and Information Technology continues to be, primarily, an enabler and encourages further development and enhancement of the same.
What is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM)?

Celebrated every October, National Cyber Security Awareness Month was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure everyone has the resources needed to stay safer and more secure online. Coordinated and led by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and the Department of Homeland Security, NCSAM has grown exponentially since its inception, reaching consumers, small and medium-sized businesses, corporations, educational institutions and young people across the nation and internationally. This year marks the 12th year of NCSAM.

What is STOP.THINK.CONNECT.?

The campaign launched in 2010 and was developed by the STOP. THINK. CONNECT. Messaging Convention, a public-private partnership established in 2009 and led by The Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) and National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) to develop and support a national cybersecurity awareness campaign.  The Department of Homeland Security provides the Federal Government’s leadership for the campaign. Industry, government, non-profits and education institutions participate in STOP. THINK. CONNECT.
