Breakfast is considered as the most important meal of the day because it decreases our overall fat intake. Skipping breakfast leads to overeating during the other meals which result in weight gain. Although, it doesn’t seem to matter if you skip it given that you eat healthy for the rest of the day. On an average, a healthy diet would allow an intake of 1200 calories divided into four meals of 400 calories in a day. However, eating healthy doesn’t give us as many delicious choices as we’d like, so here’s something tasty that’s equally healthy: Chocolate Quinoa Smoothie – A healthy breakfast alternative.
Why Quinoa?
Quinoa is often referred to as superfood and rightly so as it is high in fiber, high-quality protein and contains all essential amino acids. It is a great alternative to wheat and is as versatile as rice. It is both, gluten-free and has a low glycemic index. These properties have all been linked to weight loss and improved health, making it one of the most popular health foods in the world. Ideal for both, Indian and western cooking, this supergrain can be enjoyed in a variety of recipes; cakes, eggs, salads, cookies, pancakes, meatballs or as accompaniments to the main course.
Without further ado, here’s the recipe:

This is a very interesting recipe! I did not know quinoa could be used as a smoothie ingredient. You mentioned agave nectar. What is that and where can I get some?
Hey Felicia! Agave nectar is a sweetener which is sweeter than honey and tends to be less viscous. You can buy it on various online sites.
A quick healthy way to start the day ! Waiting for more quick recipes 😉
